The BlackSheep Behind the Ink

My name is Ryan Lamb, and I'm the owner and artist behind BlackSheep Ink.

People ask me all the time where the name BlackSheep came from.

The truth is it isn't just a business name—it's a reflection of who I am.

Growing up, I was never the person who tried to fit into a mold. I wasn't interested in following trends, chasing approval, or becoming another copy of everyone around me. I've always believed that the people who make the biggest impact are the ones willing to stand apart, challenge expectations, and stay true to themselves—even when it's uncomfortable.

Being the black sheep isn't about rebellion for the sake of rebellion. It isn't about being loud or different just to get attention. To me, it means having the courage to live authentically. It means making your own decisions, owning your mistakes, standing by your values, and refusing to let the opinions of others dictate who you're supposed to become.

That's the philosophy this shop was built on.

Too often, people spend their lives trying to fit into someone else's version of success. They hide parts of themselves to be accepted, follow paths they never wanted, and worry more about pleasing everyone else than living authentically. I've never wanted that life. I'd rather be remembered for being genuine than for blending in.

I think that's one of the reasons tattooing spoke to me in the first place.

A tattoo is one of the most personal forms of self-expression there is. It's permanent. It's honest. It tells the world something about who you are without saying a single word. Whether it's a tribute to someone you've lost, a reminder of what you've survived, or simply artwork that represents your personality, every tattoo carries a story—and no two stories are exactly the same.

That's why I don't believe tattoos should be treated like products coming off an assembly line.

Every person who walks through my door has lived a life completely different from the last client who sat in my chair. Different experiences. Different struggles. Different victories. Different reasons for getting tattooed. My job isn't to force everyone into the same style or the same process. My job is to create something that feels like it belongs to you.

My own path has been anything but ordinary.

Before dedicating myself to tattooing, I served in the U.S. Army and spent years working in Emergency Medical Services and the fire service. Those careers taught me discipline, accountability, resilience, and how quickly life can change. I've witnessed moments of unimaginable loss and moments of incredible hope. Those experiences shaped how I view people, how I treat my clients, and how seriously I take the responsibility of creating something they'll carry for the rest of their lives.

I specialize in Black & Grey Realism, Neo-Traditional, lettering, color work, and custom tattoos, but style has never been the most important part of what I do.

Connection is.

I want to know the story behind the piece. I want to understand why it matters. I want every tattoo to feel intentional—not rushed, not copied, and never treated like "just another appointment."

You'll never find me chasing trends just because they're popular or cutting corners to squeeze in one more tattoo. I'd rather spend the extra time getting every detail right than sacrifice quality for quantity. Your tattoo deserves more than that, and so does my name.

Outside the shop, I'm a proud father, and becoming a dad reinforced something I already believed: character matters. Integrity matters. The way you treat people matters. Those aren't values I leave at home when I come to work—they're part of everything I do.

BlackSheep Ink isn't just for people who want tattoos.

It's for the people who've always felt a little different.

The ones who carved their own path.

The ones who questioned the norm.

The ones who refused to settle for ordinary.

The ones who've been knocked down, stood back up, and kept moving forward.

The ones who wear their scars with pride because every scar tells a story worth remembering.

If that's you, then you've already found your place.

Because being the black sheep was never about not belonging.

It was about having the courage to become exactly who you were meant to be.

Stand apart. Stay authentic. Wear your story.

Welcome to BlackSheep Ink.
